Bezos, Nvidia join OpenAI in funding humanoid robot startup, Bloomberg reports

Big tech names like Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Nvidia are investing in startup Figure AI, known for human-like robots. The company is raising $675 million with a valuation of $2 billion, with Bezos committing $100 million, Microsoft $95 million, Nvidia and Amazon $50 million each.
Investments in AI startups have surged since OpenAI’s ChatGPT launch, with OpenAI investing $5 million in Figure. Other backers include Intel, LG Innotek, Samsung’s investment group, Parkway Venture Capital, Align Ventures, ARK Venture Fund, Aliya Capital Partners, and Tamarack.
Figure, based in Sunnyvale, develops versatile humanoid robots for various tasks. Last year, the company raised $70 million in its first external funding round. Amazon, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Intel declined to comment on the recent investments in Figure AI.
