The Ethereum blockchain is rebranding with the Dencun upgrade now live on the Sepolia testnet, meeting the January 30 projection. The upgrade aims to resolve scalability issues and high gas fees, making Ethereum more cost-effective. Future steps include launching on the Holesky testnet on Feb. 7.

Competing protocols such as SOL, ADA, and AVAX aim to dethrone Ethereum, but the Dencun upgrade will address pain points, making Ethereum more attractive for developers and end users. This positions Ethereum to maintain dominance in decentralized finance (DeFi) and more in the Web3 ecosystem.
