Europe’s Magnificent 7 Stocks Are Profitable – And…

In 2020, investment bank Goldman Sachs released a list of the most valuable companies in Europe, dubbing them the “GRANOLAS”. These companies were characterized by solid earnings growth, low volatility, high margins, and strong balance sheets. The bank’s strategists stated that the GRANOLAS stocks generally have growth and/or stability in earnings and dividends in the 2-2.5% range. The European counterpart to the US “Magnificent Seven” is made up of diverse sectors including healthcare, consumer defensive, consumer cyclicals, and tech, representing global leaders in their respective fields. Despite trading at significant premium valuations to their respective markets, the European M7 is generally smaller, more diversified, and has provided very solid returns to investors, not faring from their US counterparts.
