Hainan Airlines hands out Rokid AR glasses for in-flight entertainment
From CNBC:
Hainan Airlines offers passengers free use of Rokid’s AR glasses for in-flight entertainment. This is the first large-scale use of AR glasses on flights. The glasses allow for 3D movies, e-books, and games. Apple’s Vision Pro VR headset has a “travel mode” for airplanes, not yet available in China.
Rokid’s agreement with Hainan Airlines aims to boost awareness of AR glasses. CEO Misa Zhu hinted at ongoing talks with more airlines for similar partnerships. Hainan Airlines is a major Chinese operator, launching the AR glasses on over 20 flights. Each pair retails for over $420, much cheaper than Apple’s $3,500 Vision Pro.
The trial period for using Rokid’s AR glasses on Hainan Airlines flights coincides with the Lunar New Year holiday in China. This collaboration offers new services to passengers and boosts competition among airlines. Rokid is also exploring the possibility of incorporating AR glasses into high-speed trains for additional use.
