How much are Super Bowl rings worth and who makes them?
From Fortune:
Winning the Super Bowl brings players and coaches access to unique Super Bowl rings; each year’s rings are different, with varying cost, often with no disclosed price. Team owners have the latitude to offer Super Bowl rings to others, such as team janitors and cheerleaders, and practice squad players now receive rings by the 2020 scavenger agreement.
The price of the Super Bowl ring, which a few players put up for auction, vary from year to year, but can fetch a hefty price, selling at more than $1 million. The price of making one ring is $5 million or more, an ESPN report says, and the cost is mostly covered by the owners, with the National Football League (NFL) covering a small amount per ring.
The losing team also receives conference championship rings, which are a bit less prestigious and blingy, though players on the losing Super Bowl team also receive some jewelry of their own, as well as a nice financial bonus for playing in the game.
Jostens, the jeweler known for its high school and college rings, has made 38 of the 57 Super Bowl rings, but Balfour and Tiffany’s have also made them.
