Judge approves Binance $4.3 billion guilty plea as US seeks to modify founder Zhao’s bond By Reuters

From Investing.com:

A U.S. judge accepted Binance’s guilty plea and over $4.3 billion penalty for breaching anti-money laundering and sanctions laws. The plea includes a $1.81 billion criminal fine and $2.51 billion forfeiture. Binance failed to report 100,000+ suspicious transactions involving terrorist groups, supported sale of child sexual abuse materials, and received ransomware proceeds. Binance has upgraded its anti-money laundering protocols and Zhao pled guilty to money laundering violations, stepping down as CEO. Zhao must stay in the U.S. on a $175 million bond until his sentencing on April 30 and comply with court orders. Zhao’s lawyers objected to proposed bond changes, including location monitoring, as written. The cases are ongoing in U.S. District Court.
