Microsoft and OpenAI get hit with lawsuits by more news organizations

News organizations including Raw Story, The Intercept, and AlterNet are filing lawsuits against Microsoft and OpenAI for alleged copyright infringement with their generative AI program ChatGPT. They claim the AI copies stories without proper attribution. Alternet and Raw Story argue ChatGPT’s popularity would diminish if users knew about copyright violations.

The New York Times previously filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft, alleging ChatGPT accessed millions of articles illegally. OpenAI has since countersued, claiming The Times hired someone to hack into their services, resulting in the alleged copyright violations. Legal battles are looming between the tech giants and news organizations involved.
