Most American adults don’t have enough savings to pay an emergency $1,000 expense: Bankrate survey

A Bankrate survey found that more than half of American adults do not have sufficient savings to cover unexpected $1,000 expenses. They would borrow money or go into debt to cover costs. It’s disappointing to analysts, fear of inflation and interest rates are cited as reasons Americans are not saving. 22% of U.S. adults have no emergency savings at all, a second-lowest in 13 years. Bankrate advises people to make it a priority to contribute to emergency funds to prepare for any economic downturn.
