Nvidia could remain a semiconductor market leader: VanEck CEO

From CNBC:

Nvidia shares hit an all-time high, with VanEck CEO Jan van Eck saying its gains could just be the beginning. He highlights Nvidia’s edge in fabricating AI chips and its dominance in the GPU market. As Nvidia continues to lead, van Eck believes its advanced capabilities will buffer competition in the AI GPU space.

Nvidia is the top holding in the VanEck Semiconductor ETF, accounting for almost a quarter of the fund’s assets. Van Eck emphasizes Nvidia’s significant lead and the company’s efforts to build a moat with software services and cloud solutions, asking who can truly compete with them.

With Nvidia’s lead in the AI GPU space, more competitors entering the market may not displace Nvidia’s position as the most valuable semiconductor stock. The VanEck Semiconductor ETF’s other top holdings as of Wednesday are Taiwan Semiconductor and Broadcom, with the ETF up more than 12% this year.
