Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was hospitalized again after being released earlier this month. He’s retaining his duties, but the deputy defense secretary is ready to step in if needed. The White House has instructed Cabinet members to inform the chief of staff if they can’t fulfill their duties. Austin brought communication systems to the hospital needed for his work. His hospitalization could affect his upcoming trip to Brussels and a NATO defense ministers meeting.
