Several Java Blend employees who were terminated in late January will be holding a rally outside the café in Halifax on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 1 pm. This comes after nine employees, including four leaders of the union drive, were illegally terminated. The Service Employees International Union has filed an Unfair Labour Practice complaint, alleging that the terminations were part of an orchestrated campaign of retaliation against workers’ rights. The rally is expected to draw support from worker and community leaders, including NS NDP Leader Claudia Chender.
