Tesla offers $1K February discount on select Model Y’s, seeks “continuous production for efficiency” By Investing.com
From Investing.com:
Tesla (TSLA) is offering a $1,000 February discount on select Model Y variants as part of its push for “continuous production for efficiency.” This is part of a move to address the seasonal nature of consumer demand and the need for continuous production in manufacturing.
The company’s website is now showing a “Pricing Update” with reduced prices for new Model Y RWD and Long Range AWD, with prices set to increase by $1,000 or more on March 1. Tesla’s X (formerly Twitter) page also announced the price cuts.
Elon Musk, head of Tesla, commented on the discount, stating that the essential manufacturing quandary is the need for continuous production for efficiency while consumer demand is seasonal. Prices for the base Real Wheel Drive Model Y will go down to $42,990, and the All Wheel Drive Model Y to $47,990.
This move by Tesla signals a resumption of the ‘EV pricing war,’ with numerous price cuts across model lineups. Shares of Tesla closed at $193.57 on Friday, down more than 22% year-to-date.
