Tesla’s German plant produced 6,000 cars in a week -Tagesspiegel

From Nasdaq, Inc.:

Tesla’s German plant achieved a production record of 6,000 cars in a week before facing a production halt due to a component shortage. The carmaker has steadily increased weekly production since March 2020 and is waiting for approval to double the plant’s capacity to 1 million cars annually. Production is set to resume on Feb. 12.

The plant, which now employs 12,500 workers, had increased weekly production to 5,000 cars in March 2020 from 2,000 cars in October 2019. Tesla is also awaiting approval to double the plant’s capacity to 1 million cars annually. This will involve cutting down 70 hectares of forest in Gruenheide, near Berlin, which is currently under citizens’ consultation.

Despite the recent production halt, the carmaker is expecting to resume production as planned on Feb. 12, as supply chains are once again “intact.” This will allow Tesla to produce cars again in full capacity.
