US judge orders Elon Musk to testify in SEC’s Twitter probe

From CNBC:

A federal judge has ordered Elon Musk to testify in the U.S. SEC’s probe of his takeover of Twitter, giving both parties a week to agree on a date and location for the interview.

The SEC sued Musk to compel his testimony regarding his purchase of Twitter and is examining whether his statements on the deal were misleading.

Musk has fought the SEC’s bid to interview him, accusing the regulator of harassment. However, the judge has rejected this argument, stating the SEC had the authority to issue the subpoena.

Friction between Musk and the SEC began when the regulator sued him over a tweet in 2018, and Musk has since asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review the agreement.
