Walmart plans to add more than 150 large-format stores in U.S.

From CNBC:

Walmart, the country’s largest private employer, plans to build or convert over 150 large-format stores in the next five years. The expansion includes new locations and the expansion of existing ones. The move signals Walmart’s continued investment in its brick-and-mortar locations, despite the growing competition from online retailers like Amazon and Shein.

The company is also investing in its new store projects, with plans to start 12 new store openings this year. The new stores will reflect Walmart’s modern look and include sustainability features like energy-efficient lighting.

Walmart’s stock recently hit an all-time high and experienced a 3-for-1 stock split. The company’s ability to weather inflation and attract more upper-income households to its stores has contributed to its relative strength compared to other retailers.
