Daily Markets: Investors Shrug Off Inflation Data

In Asia-Pacific, markets had a mixed day with India’s SENSEX down 1.23%, while Australia’s ASX gained 0.21% and South Korea’s KOSPI rose 0.44%. European markets are up midday, while U.S. equity futures are mixed. Yesterday, the S&P 500 hit a new high despite warmer CPI data, while the Euro Area saw industrial production decrease by 6.70%. Today, there are investor conferences including Bank of America Consumer & Retail Conference, Barclays Global Healthcare Conference, and Citi Technology, Media & Telecom Conference. Technology led markets yesterday, with the S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq all up, but Russell 2000 down slightly year-to-date. Dollar Tree, Petco Health & Wellness, and Williams Sonoma are expected to report earnings. The Pentagon has canceled plans to grant Intel $2.5 billion for semiconductors. Toyota agreed to union demands for major salary increases and record bonus payments. Toyota did not disclose details but the union had demanded bonuses worth 7.6 months of salary. Lennar and SentinelOne are expected to report earnings after the market closes today. Tomorrow, key economic data like Retail Sales and Producer Price Index will be released.
