Delta Air Lines has raised its checked bag fee by $5 to counter increasing industry costs.

From CNBC:

Delta Air Lines has increased its checked bag fee by $5 for most domestic and short-haul international routes, bringing the total cost to $35 for the first checked bag and $45 for the second. This is the first fee increase for Delta since 2018 and is aimed at keeping pace with rising industry costs.

Other airlines, such as American Airlines and United Airlines, have also raised prices for checked bags recently. This trend has been seen industry-wide, with JetBlue Airways and Alaska Airlines following suit in raising prices for checked bags. Delta’s new fees do not apply to tickets purchased before the fee increase took effect.

In response to rising industry costs, Delta Air Lines has implemented a $5 increase to their checked bag fees for most domestic and short-haul international routes. This change will bring the cost of the first checked bag to $35 and the second checked bag to $45. Delta’s new pricing structure will help the airline stay competitive with other carriers that have recently raised their checked bag fees.
