Dodge unveils 2024 Charger Daytona Scat Pack EV and gas model

From CNBC:

Dodge announces the 2024 Charger Daytona Scat Pack EV, the first all-electric car from the automaker alongside a next-generation gas-powered muscle car. The move aims to cater to traditional high-octane car owners. The EV will offer 670 horsepower and 627 foot-pounds of torque, with gas models to follow.

Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis touts the Charger EV as a “game changer” in the industry. The gas-powered versions are expected to outperform predecessors. The brand aims to combine the performance of the past with future technology. The lineup includes a high-performance “Banshee” EV model and two- and four-door variants.

The Charger EV, known as the Daytona, boasts 670 horsepower, 627 foot-pounds of torque, and a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds. Two-door models will debut first, followed by four-door models. Gas-powered Chargers with a new inline-six engine are slated for release in 2025. Pricing details are yet to be announced.

Dodge CEO Kuniskis assures that the company won’t sell EVs at a loss. The brand’s shift to electrified vehicles reflects a broader industry trend towards sustainability and lower carbon footprints. Dodge aims to align with Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 plan to reduce its global carbon footprint significantly by 2030 and achieve net carbon zero by 2038.

The Charger Daytona EV will offer “R/T” and “Scat Pack” models, producing 496 and 670 horsepower, respectively. Expected ranges on a full charge are 317 miles for R/T and 260 miles for the Scat Pack. An innovative feature called “PowerShot” delivers additional horsepower when activated. Design cues are inspired by a concept car revealed in August 2022.
