Eli Lilly taps Amazon Pharmacy to help deliver Zepbound, other drugs
From CNBC:
Eli Lilly partners with Amazon Pharmacy to deliver certain prescription drugs, including Zepbound for weight loss, directly to patients’ homes through LillyDirect program. Amazon Pharmacy can provide two-day deliveries for eligible patients prescribed with certain Eli Lilly drugs, aiming to disrupt drug distribution and cut consumer costs in the U.S.
Patients using LillyDirect are not required to use telehealth services for home delivery. Prescriptions for Eli Lilly drugs can be routed to LillyDirect within the healthcare provider’s electronic health records system for delivery through Amazon Pharmacy or Truepill. The majority of prescriptions will be split between the two online pharmacies, with clinical pharmacists available 24/7 for patient inquiries.
Amazon Pharmacy has collaborated with Eli Lilly in the past to offer more than 15 coupons for insulin and diabetes medicines on its online platform. Amazon’s acquisition of PillPack in 2018 and subsequent launch of Amazon Pharmacy in 2020 marked its entry into the retail drug store space, part of a broader push into healthcare. Amazon has also acquired primary care provider One Medical in 2022.
