Elon Musk is suing OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, alleging breaches of the non-profit’s original mission to advance AI for humanity. The lawsuit, filed in San Francisco, claims profit-seeking ventures violate the agreement made with Musk in 2015. Musk, who co-founded OpenAI, is known for his other groundbreaking ventures, like Tesla and acquiring Twitter for $44 billion in 2022.

OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, saw rapid success, becoming the world’s fastest-growing software app within six months of its November 2022 launch. This led competitors like Microsoft and Alphabet to develop their own AI solutions, sparking a competitive landscape. ChatGPT’s versatility has found applications in various industries, from document summarization to computer code generation, driving innovation and competition among tech giants.
