Inflation Now to Hit Target This Year, Chancellor Says

Inflation is expected to drop below the Bank of England’s 2% target soon, contradicting previous forecasts. This could pressure the Bank to cut interest rates. The UK fell into recession in 2023, but growth is forecasted for 2024 onwards. Economic data, including unemployment and GDP, will be released in March.

While economic data paints a mixed picture for the UK, missing workers are a concern. GDP growth is weaker than before the financial crisis due to factors like the Ukraine-Russia war and Brexit. The Bank of England will meet later this month to decide on interest rates.
