Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average surged past 40,000 for the first time since 1987, opening up 0.73% at 40,201.76 on Monday. Semiconductor stocks like Tokyo Electron and Advantest drove the gains, rising 3% in morning trade. This milestone comes after the index hit an all-time high in February.
