Microsoft settles patent infringement lawsuit over Wi-Fi technology with Caltech

From Nasdaq:

Microsoft has settled a patent infringement lawsuit brought by Caltech over Wi-Fi patents, following a billion-dollar verdict against Apple and Broadcom. Details of the settlement are not yet available.

Caltech accused Microsoft of infringing Wi-Fi patents with devices like Surface tablets and Xbox. Microsoft denied the allegations and argued the patents were invalid, claiming to have licenses for them.

Caltech, Apple, and Broadcom settled their dispute last year after a U.S. appeals court ordered a new trial to determine damages in the patent case.

Caltech has ongoing cases against HP Inc and Dell for infringing its Wi-Fi patents in Texas.

The lawsuit is California Institute of Technology v. Microsoft Corp, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
