Southwest Airlines is reducing its capacity plans and revising financial forecasts due to Boeing delivery delays. Instead of 79, they’ll only receive 46 Boeing 737 Max 8 planes this year. Alaska Airlines is also uncertain about 2024 capacity due to Boeing scrutiny. United is pausing pilot hiring for late-arriving aircraft. Southwest shares dropped 15%. Boeing is working on improving quality control.
