Target launches paid membership Target Circle 360
From CNBC:
Target announced the launch of their paid membership program, Target Circle 360, offering perks like same-day delivery and free shipping for members over $35. The program will cost $49 per year starting in April. Target is revamping its free loyalty program to better compete with rivals like Amazon and Walmart.
The retailer is introducing the Target Circle credit card, offering members discounts, free shipping, and extended returns. Target’s move follows the success of Amazon’s Prime program, which had over 200 million members globally in 2021. Walmart also has a membership program, Walmart+, which offers perks like free shipping and gas discounts. Target aims to boost sales with the new revenue stream.
Walmart CEO Doug McMillon stated that Walmart+ members spend nearly twice as much as non-members, driving growth for the company. The membership program trend among retailers is seen as a way to increase sales and build customer loyalty. Target is tapping into this strategy to attract more shoppers and compete with industry giants like Amazon and Walmart.
