Tech startup Figure showcased its humanoid robot, Figure 01, interacting with an engineer, displaying impressive speech-to-speech reasoning skills with OpenAI. The robot handed over an apple, adding a human-like touch to the interaction. While no consumer product has been announced, the demo hints at a potentially dystopian future of AI-enabled robots.

Figure recently partnered with OpenAI to enhance its robots’ language understanding and skill acquisition capabilities. Videos of Figure 01 demonstrate its ability to use a coffee machine, walk, and manipulate objects. The collaboration aims to develop next-gen AI models for humanoid robots to process and reason from language, marking significant progress for Figure.
