UK Was in Recession at End of 2023, ONS Confirms

The UK fell into a technical recession in Q4 2023, ONS numbers confirmed. GDP dropped 0.3% from the previous quarter, marking two consecutive declines. All sectors saw decreases in output, with net trade, household consumption, and gross capital formation falling in expenditure terms. Annual GDP fell 0.2% for the quarter. Annual GDP growth in 2023 stayed at 0.1%. This is the lowest GDP change since the 2009 financial crisis, excluding the pandemic-impacted 2020.
