Last week, ETFs attracted $7.2 million in capital, led by U.S. fixed-income ETFs ($3.1 million), U.S. equity ETFs ($1.9 million), and leveraged ETFs ($1.3 million). Top creations included iShares MBS ETF MBB, Vanguard S&P 500 ETF VOO, SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust SPY, Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF VTI, and SPDR Bloomberg Barclays High Yield Bond ETF JNK.
Wall Street ended its best week of 2024, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index surging 2.7% and 4.2%, respectively. Tech giants Alphabet and Microsoft drove optimism with strong earnings, emphasizing investments in AI and cloud computing which offset pessimism from Meta Platforms’ weak guidance.
Key ETFs include iShares MBS ETF (MBB) with $1.2 billion inflows, Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) with $783 million, SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) with $738 million, Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI) with $640.4 million, and SPDR Bloomberg Barclays High Yield Bond ETF (JNK) with $577 million inflows.
