Amazon has announced a £2.18 billion investment in Anthropic, a generative artificial intelligence company. This brings Amazon’s total stake to £3.1 billion. Anthropic’s recent advancements in generative AI align with Amazon’s infrastructure, and the global AI market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 37.3% through 2030.

Anthropic co-founders Daniela and Dario Amodei created the company in 2021. They collaborated with Amazon in late 2023, committing to use AWS Trainium and Inferentia for AI model creation. Amazon developers will access Anthropic models through Amazon Bedrock, advancing Amazon’s AI capabilities through the collaboration.
