Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, discusses the AMD EPYC processor at CES 2019. AMD reported Q1 earnings slightly above expectations with revenue at $5.47 billion. The company forecasts $5.7 billion in sales this quarter, up 6% annually. Despite growth in AI chip sales, shares dropped 7% in extended trading. AMD’s Data Center segment grew 80% thanks to MI300 series AI chip sales. CEO Su mentioned new AI chip development and gaining market share in server CPUs, potentially from Intel. AMD’s gaming segment dropped 48% due to lower chip sales for game consoles and PCs. Client segment revenue, which includes PCs, saw an 85% annual increase. Embedded segment revenue, acquired with Xilinx, fell 46% year over year.
