Apple has announced a new repair policy allowing genuine used components to repair iPhone 15 lineup, expanding its Self Service Repair program. Users will no longer need to go through “Parts Pairing” and won’t receive notifications when using old components during repairs.

Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, John Ternus, stated that the changes in repair policies are aimed at maintaining user safety, security, and privacy. Calibration for genuine Apple parts, new or used, will now happen on the device after installation, eliminating the need for users to provide serial numbers during repairs.

Users can now track repair changes under a new “Parts and Service History” option in the Settings app. Apple aims to provide more choice and convenience for customers while extending the life of their products and parts with these repair policy updates.
