Apple’s smartphone shipments fell 10% in Q1 2024 due to competition from Android makers. Global smartphone shipments rose 7.8% to 289.4 million, with Samsung overtaking Apple as the top phonemaker. Xiaomi held the third spot with 14.1% market share, while Samsung shipped over 60 million phones.
In Q1, Apple shipped 50.1 million iPhones, down from 55.4 million last year. Sales in China dropped 2.1% amid challenges from Chinese companies and government restrictions. Investors await Apple’s WWDC in June for updates on AI development. Apple recently lost its title as the world’s most valuable company to Microsoft.
