Qantas Airways expands its frequent flyer program, offering 20 million more reward seats for purchase with points, including new “Classic Plus” seats with varying point requirements. The airline plans to invest A$120 million in customer benefits, expecting a positive return by 2026. Qantas Loyalty division projected earnings of A$500-525 million in FY24. Analysts view the changes as a short-term negative with potential long-term benefits.

Qantas will make new reward seats available for booking on international flights departing from Australia starting July 1, expanding to all domestic and international routes by the end of 2024. The carrier also confirmed a stock buyback of up to A$448 million by June 30.
