China stocks fall on shrinking trade – Markets

Chinese stocks fell on Friday as traders were uncertain about US interest rate cuts and China’s shrinking trade in March. The Shanghai Composite index closed down 0.49% with healthcare, financials, consumer staples, and real estate stocks seeing declines between 0.94% and 3.2%.

The Hang Seng index dropped 2.18% with the Hang Seng China Enterprises index falling 2.07%. The CSI 300 had its worst week since Feb. 2, falling 2.6%, while the Hang Seng was almost unchanged for the week.

The Shenzhen index ended down 0.81% and the ChiNext Composite index weakened by 1.08%. Energy, IT, financial, and property sectors had declines ranging from 1% to 2.83%. Other Asian markets were also weaker.
