Consumer stocks were down pre-bell, with XLP down 0.4% and XLY down 1.7%. PriceSmart (PSMT) saw a more than 3% increase after reporting higher earnings, sales, and a special dividend.
Alibaba (BABA) co-founder Jack Ma praised the company’s restructuring efforts in a memo to employees, leading to a nearly 2% increase pre-bell. Procter & Gamble (PG) raised its quarterly dividend to $1.0065 per share, payable in May.
