Tesla CEO Elon Musk flew to Beijing for a surprise trip to discuss the rollout of Full-Self Driving software in China. Musk is seeking approval to transfer data collected in China abroad to train algorithms for autonomous driving. Tesla has stored Chinese data in Shanghai since 2021, but FSD is not yet available in China. Musk hinted at making FSD available in China soon, with Chinese automakers like Xpeng also developing similar software. Elon Musk’s visit was not publicly announced, and Tesla has not commented on the matter.
