Ford prepares to resume shipments, drops some prices

From CNBC: 2024-04-11 16:35:02

Ford is lowering prices on some F-150 Lightning models by $2,000 to $5,500 due to quality issues. Prices now range from $62,995 to $84,995. The automaker’s moves come amid slower EV adoption. Ford Chief Operating Officer Kumar Galhotra mentioned that new technology like EVs takes time to find the right balance.

The stop-shipment on the F-150 gas and diesel versions, as well as the Lightning models, was due to small issues that engineers are constantly working to fix. Ford has released 144,000 full-size F-150 and Ranger pickups in Q1 2024. Having a large inventory can lead to more costs and delayed deliveries.

Ford is reviving goal-based incentives for dealers to increase F-150 sales. The automaker prioritizes quality over quick shipments to ensure complex vehicles are perfect before delivery. Ford is committed to resolving quality issues and reducing warranty costs to compete with traditional rivals.
