Ford to delay all-electric SUV to focus on hybrid vehicles

Ford Motor is delaying production of a new all-electric large SUV and pickup truck to offer hybrid options across its entire lineup by 2030. The shift comes as EV adoption remains slow, leading Ford to delay or cancel $12 billion in planned EV spending last year.
Ford, ranked second in EV sales behind Tesla, is focusing on new plants like “BlueOval City” in Tennessee rather than retooling existing facilities. The automaker’s electric vehicle sales increased by 86% in the first quarter of 2024, but its “Model e” EV business lost $4.7 billion in 2023.
