Google, owned by Alphabet, Inc., is planning to introduce paid AI-powered search features to cover costs. Premium subscribers could have conversations with Google’s generative AI, similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. This move comes as Google faces competition from ChatGPT, which provides quick answers. The company reported $175 billion in revenue from search ads last year.
Google has been developing the “Search Generative Experience” since last May, including an “AI-powered snapshot” feature. While the tech giant denied plans for an ad-free search experience, it hinted at enhancing subscription offerings with new premium capabilities. Google aims to continue evolving its services to cater to subscriber needs.
