Microsoft and OpenAI are planning a $100 billion data center project with an AI supercomputer called “Stargate” to reduce reliance on Nvidia. The project, launching in 2028, involves five phases, with Stargate being the fifth and most ambitious. The cost could exceed $115 billion, surpassing Microsoft’s expenditures on servers last year. The project is expected to push the boundaries of AI capability.
