Microsoft Announces $1.7 Bln Investment To Advance Indonesia’s Cloud And AI Ambitions

Microsoft is investing $1.7 billion in Indonesia over four years to build new cloud and AI infrastructure. The company plans to train 840,000 Indonesians in AI skills and support local developers. CEO Satya Nadella met with President Joko Widodo to discuss the investment, which is Microsoft’s largest in the country.

Nadella stated that AI is reshaping how people live and work, including in Indonesia. Microsoft’s investments in digital infrastructure, skilling, and developer support aim to help Indonesia thrive in this new era. The company also plans to provide AI skilling opportunities for 2.5 million people in ASEAN member states by 2025 through partnerships with governments, organizations, and communities.
