Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) announced the discontinuation of Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, with users required to pay an annual fee for Extended Security Updates (ESU) starting at $61 for the first year. Businesses have three paid options to extend support, with a 25% discount for cloud-based solutions. Transition to Windows 11 or Windows 365 is recommended for regular consumers.

Organizations enrolling in the ESU program later will need to cover costs for missed periods, with pricing doubling in the second and third years. ESU options are available for Commercial Organizations and EDU customers, offering a 25% discount for cloud-based solutions. A paid program for extended security updates for regular consumers will be announced closer to Windows 10’s end-of-support date in October 2025.
