New off-road SUV will include a hybrid engine

Toyota unveiled the 2025 4Runner SUV, the first new model in 15 years. It will offer a hybrid engine for the first time and come in new high-end trims like “Platinum” and “Trailhunter.” Pricing will be announced later, with starting prices ranging from $41,000 to over $55,000 for the 2024 model.

The 2025 4Runner will have improved fuel economy, with exact ratings to be revealed closer to its fall release. The hybrid engine model will have a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with a 48-horsepower electric motor, producing up to 326 horsepower and 465 foot-pounds of torque. Toyota’s lineup balancing hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and all-electric models.

Nine models of the 4Runner will be available, including the TRD Pro and new Trailhunter and Platinum trims. The Trailhunter model adds more off-road features like rock rails and skid plates, while the Platinum model offers more luxury. Production of the 2025 4Runner takes place in Toyota’s Tahara plant in Japan.
