U.K. tech startup Synthesia introduces AI-generated avatars with the ability to convey emotions such as happiness, sadness, and frustration.
Synthesia, backed by Nvidia, reveals “Expressive Avatars” that eliminate the need for cameras, microphones, and actors in video production.
The technology has been adopted by 55,000 businesses, including half of the Fortune 100, for creating digital avatars in corporate presentations and training videos.
Synthesia, founded in 2017, raised $90 million in funding last year, valuing the company at around $1 billion.
The company addresses concerns of misuse by requiring publishers to sign up as enterprise customers and undergo a thorough verification process.
Preparing for global elections, Synthesia implements controls to prevent hostile actors from manipulating outcomes using their platform.
Part of the Coalition for Content Provenance, Synthesia aims to mark AI-generated content to distinguish it from human-produced content and prevent misinformation.
