Nvidia Inc.(NVDA) is at the forefront of the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution with its cutting-edge chips. CEO Jensen Huang believes strongly in AI’s potential to transform our world, yet he maintains a perspective that human employment will not be eradicated as a result.
In a recent interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” Huang shared his insights, emphasizing that AI’s role in enhancing company productivity is likely to lead to an expansion of the workforce rather than its reduction. He articulated, “As companies become more efficient and their earnings grow, it’s been my observation that they tend to hire more employees, not fewer.”
Huang further asserted the importance of human involvement in AI-driven processes. He remarked, “Despite the advancements in AI, the inclusion of human judgment remains essential. There are nuances and complexities that machines are currently unable to fully grasp.”
Discussing the potential of AI and Nvidia’s latest GPU technology, named Blackwell, Huang expressed optimism about AI’s limitless possibilities. He highlighted areas such as drug discovery and material design as fields where AI can significantly contribute, enabling explorations far beyond current human capabilities.
Despite a recent dip in Nvidia’s stock price, the company has witnessed remarkable growth. With a year-to-date increase of 77% and a surge of over 200% in the past twelve months, Nvidia has joined the ranks of the U.S.’s most highly valued companies, alongside Microsoft Corp., Apple Inc., and Alphabet Inc. This financial success reflects Nvidia’s pivotal role in the AI sector and the broader tech industry.
Nvidia is anticipated to reveal its quarterly earnings on May 22, with high expectations following a previous report that exceeded forecasts by nearly $2 billion. This upcoming announcement is awaited with keen interest by investors and industry observers alike, as it will provide further insights into Nvidia’s performance and its contributions to the evolving landscape of AI technology.
