The Indian stock market opened in the green as the Sensex and Nifty rose in the first session of the May series. Sensex opened 0.87 percent higher, while Nifty inched 0.22 percent higher.

International crude oil prices rose as supply concerns lingered due to conflicts in the Middle East. Brent crude futures gained 0.4 percent to $89.32 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose by 0.3 percent to $83.80 a barrel.

Indian government bond yields rose as US yields spiked to new highs, with the benchmark 10-year Indian yield at 7.2203 percent.

Asian markets slipped, with Japan’s Nikkei trading 0.75 percent higher at 37,918.03, marking a 34-year low.

The US expected weaker GDP data, but Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said US economic growth for the first quarter could be revised higher.
