In preparation for a major news conference on Monday, OpenAI is set to unveil new features, not GPT-5 or a search engine, according to founder Sam Altman. The AI company, backed by Microsoft, is also reportedly working on a search feature that can crawl the web and provide sources in results.

Meanwhile, Apple is planning a major boost to Siri, transitioning to a ChatGPT-like model for better engagement in conversations. The update is expected to be announced at Apple’s upcoming developers’ event on June 10 as part of the company’s efforts to catch up with competitors in the generative AI space.

In a move signaling seriousness in AI development, Apple’s recent launch of new chips garnered attention from investors, amid an “AI arms race.” Google is also set to host an event to showcase its own chatbot, Gemini, which has faced challenges in gaining market share against competitors like ChatGPT and OpenAI.
