In a groundbreaking move, five short films created using OpenAI’s text-to-video AI model Sora will debut at the 2024 Tribeca Festival. These films, made by award-winning filmmakers, were completed in just a few weeks, showcasing the potential of generative AI in storytelling. The filmmakers were given access to Sora’s capabilities to push boundaries and explore new creative avenues. The films will premiere on June 15 at the Tribeca Film Center Screening Room, followed by a conversation with the filmmakers on the importance of innovative storytelling. The program is a collaboration between Tribeca Festival and OpenAI, highlighting the intersection of technology and creativity in filmmaking.

Among the participating filmmakers are Bonnie Discepolo, Ellie Foumbi, Nikyatu Jusu, Reza Sixo Safai, and Michaela Ternasky-Holland.
