Dodge, Ram boss Tim Kuniskis to retire from Stellantis

From CNBC: 2024-05-17 12:57:09

Tim Kuniskis, head of Fiat Chrysler’s passenger cars division in North America, introduces the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat SUV online. The company announces Kuniskis’ retirement after a 32-year career with Fiat Chrysler and its predecessors, marking the end of his reign as the leader of Dodge known for high-performance Hellcat models and American muscle cars. The reshuffling will see Chrysler brand CEO Christine Feuell take on Ram as well with Matt McAlear succeeding Kuniskis at Dodge. Stellantis is undergoing a restructuring that includes layoffs and cost-cutting after experiencing a decline in U.S. sales while the market grew, with plans to transition to an all-electric future by 2028. CEO Carlos Tavares thanked Kuniskis for his contributions and expressed confidence in Feuell and McAlear to lead the Ram and Dodge brands successfully. Despite no major new products, Kuniskis was able to boost sales by promoting Charger, Challenger, and Durango vehicles’ performance with V-8 engines and “buzz” models. Kuniskis has been a member of Stellantis’ executive team since its merger with French automaker PSA Groupe in January 2021 and served on Fiat Chrysler’s board under late CEO Sergio Marchionne. This development follows other recent changes within the company, including the reshuffling of Jeep’s top executives, the departure of North America head Mark Stewart to become CEO of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., and restructuring of the international operations.
