Paul Day, a 62-year-old from Felixstowe, will see his mortgage increase by £225 a month when his fixed rate deal ends in May. Currently paying £1,027 a month at 1.89%, he will move to his lender’s 7.99% standard variable rate. Day hesitates to choose another fixed rate, hoping for interest rates to decrease in the next six months.
